See in your Summer with some new music!
Although it’s not set to be sunny outside, why not make the most of those rainy days by discovering new artists?
This year has seen the rise of some phenomenal new talent, representing genres that are far outside of the standard modern day ‘pop’.
Here sees a compiled list of artists/bands that you need to give a listen:
1. Hudson Taylor– Composed of Irish brothers, Harry and Alfie Hudson Taylor, together the duo produce a powerful and melodic acoustic folk sound. This February saw them play a sold out Shepherds Bush show, of which I was in attendance, and the atmosphere they created was incredible! Their debut album, ‘Singing For Strangers’ was released worldwide on March 31st and has helped them rack up fans across the globe. They are currently back in the UK, playing a variety of intimate gigs and accompanying fellow singer-songwriter Gabrielle Aplin on radio appearances.

2. Lost In Paradise– Five piece Geordie pop-rock band with a powerful sound to back them! I saw these guys perform live at a recent gig in Camden’s Barfly, which if you’ve read my review, you’ll know how highly I think of them as an up and coming band. Their sound is raw and electric, they are the perfect example of pure, unrefined energy in an industry that’s slowly filling with polished-off pop. They’re still in their infancy as a band, but are well worth a listen!

3. Jack Savoretti– I first caught sight of Jack, after seeing his TV appearance on Sunday Brunch and whilst being interviewed by Tim and Simon, I was moved about how he spoke of his work as a collaborative effort between himself and his team. It was so refreshing to see an artist who wasn’t self-involved and ready to simply take the credit rather than share it. His latest song, Written In Scars, from his latest album of the same name, has pushed him to the forefront of people’s attention; despite having been a working musician for a number of years now. His lyrics are laced with content and meaning, they are relevant more than ever in today’s society; as he speaks of unity and strength. His latest album, Written In Scars, is out now and is one that you should dive head first into and open your ears up to what this artist has to say.

4. Kimberly Anne– An artist I’ve admired for quite some time now, after seeing her open for Hudson Taylor at last year Global Day Of Discovery at London’s St pancreas Renaissance Hotel. Her work is made up of strong lyrics, accompanied by intricate acoustic guitar work and solid drum beats. For a young artist, she is one who knows how to express her thoughts into songs in such an eloquent and beautiful manner. She is set to tour this October, and already has sold out her second gig at The Barfly- so you better book your tickets fast, if you plan to catch her!

5. The Waiters– This pop-rock Newcastle four piece are set to make a name for themselves, as they already have a steadily-growing fan base and a strong sound on their shoulders for such a young band. The lads most recently took to the main stage of Northern Pride, and wowed thousands as well as impressing critics present in the crowd. Their sound is unashamedly loud, and the presence they bring on stage as a band is incredible. They have recently been in the studio recording some new tracks, so stay tuned!
