Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Secretly Visit Los Angeles Charity To Advocate For This Issue That Coul

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle secretly visited the Los Angeles charity Homeboy Industries earlier this week, and they went to work preparing food while wearing hairnets, gloves, and masks. The Duke and Duchess volunteered to help the organization that focuses on improving the lives of former gang members and the formerly incarcerated, and this issue could be a part of the couple’s new Archewell Foundation.

According to Page Six, Harry and Meghan spent Tuesday afternoon at the gang rehab charity, which is run by Father Greg Boyle. The former royals have been talking with Boyle about how they can get involved in the racial injustice movement, but this isn’t a random collaboration.

Markle – who was born and raised in Los Angeles – went to Immaculate Heart High School, and Boyle has been working closely with that school for a long time. Markle and her mother, Doria Ragland, also joined Father Greg for a cooking workshop nearly 20 years ago.

“Meghan still remembers the tamale recipe she learned there to this day,” revealed an insider.

Father Greg said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were just “Harry and Meghan to the homies,” and they rolled up their sleeves and deeply engaged with the organization’s workers in the Bakery and Café.

“It was immediate kinship, and heartening in its mutuality,” said Boyle, who posted pics of Harry and Meghan’s visits on the Homeboy Industries Instagram page.

“It was remarkable to share our Feed Hope program with Harry and Meghan. They are both down to earth and kind. The staff was honored they took the time to see us, hear us and walk on our journey … We will never forget it,” said Mariana Enriquez, manager of the Homegirl Café.

Homeboy Industries has been in operation for 32 years and focuses on a segment of the population that is often ignored in American society. Those who are released from prison are in desperate need of job training, addiction recovery support, legal assistance, education, and counseling.

Homeboy offers all of those things, plus tattoo removal to help with job searches and direct opportunities for employment at places like the Homeboy Bakery and Homegirl Café.

The organization also has a #FeedHOPE program that employs former gang members and prison inmates to provide meals to those in need, like food-insecure seniors and children. Those populations have significantly increased in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Duchess and Duke connect deeply to Homeboy’s mission … To them, Homeboy is a perfect example of how empathy, kindness, and compassion can change the world,” said the insider.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly looking to widen their platform with their new Archewell foundation. In addition to gender equality and mental health, they will now be advocating on issues of social and racial injustice, and have signed with the Harry Walker agency in New York to manage their speaking engagements.
