EXCLUSIVE: Anna Pancalidi Talks the Power of Knowing Your Fans

Publish date: 2024-04-24

Today, fast rising UK country music artist Anna Pancaldi released her brand new single ‘Peace’, and she has just finished touring Britain with free-entry shows and even performs in fans’ living rooms on a regular basis.

Here we chat exclusively to Anna Pancaldi about her close relationship with her supporters and the power of know your fans:

You recently wrapped your tour with free entry shows, do you feel this allowed you to gain a whole new fan base?
It’s been my first tour having agents, which has been wonderful and as a kind gesture they made the shows free entry in cities where we’re establishing a new fan base. It really worked and the shows were filled with greater audiences than expected, so that was thrilling! The next tour will be properly ticketed though, it was a little introductory present for music lovers really.

What can fans expect from your live shows?
The shows have taken a step up having the band with me, it really makes everything come alive and reflect my recorded music more so. I adore playing live, it’s where I am happiest connecting face to face with fans. I like to keep it intimate in moments too with a couple of songs on the piano and one where I stand out in the crowd and sing an a cappella. The band are just wonderful though, full of energy!

As a rising musician how important do you feel fan participation is to your long term success?
It’s imperative, they are the ones who listen, share and spread the word of what you’re creating, it’s impossible without them. They also walk through on the journey with you longer than many others, so they almost feel like old friends at times.

You also perform for fans in their living rooms, how did this come about?
I had seen some other musicians talking about it and decided to give it a go myself, which has led to becoming a regular part of my touring schedule. I’ll always perform in music venues, but being able to perform in such an intimate way is another way of reaching new fan bases and creating something really special as you perform unplugged generally and get to spend more time with audiences.

How can our readers get you to perform at their homes?
Just drop me a line on any social media or email and we can take it from there, easy peasy!

What has been your most memorable “living room” performance?
Well, there’s been funny ones and stand out moments, but I think the most memorable one was when I sang in a mini wooden hobbit hut in Scotland with a fire in the centre of the little hide out; I sang there in front of the fire as people roasted marshmallows and listened in. It was beautiful!

How would you describe your relationship with your fans?
Close, I am attentive with social media and try to keep up with that as much as I can to make sure people feel a part of what I’m doing; as well as keeping balance for creating music and that side of things. My fans are very loyal, kind and outspoken with their support of my music, I don’t take that for granted at all.

What else can we expect from you this year?
My brand new single ‘Peace’ is out now, recorded with the amazing Matt Ingram (Florence and the Machine, Laura Marling, Lianne La Havas) and [I have] another [single] coming out before the end of the year. I am currently in Germany playing some shows, I love it out here! Then next year I am back to LA where my management is based to tour and a bigger UK/European tour in the Autumn. Cannot wait!
