Amber Baltierra Gives Up Custody Of Son After 'Disturbing' Behavior

Tyler Baltierra and Catelynn Lowell have been open about their struggles with Tyler’s father, Butch Baltierra as he struggles with substance abuse. But Tyler has also not always seen eye to eye with his sister, Amber Baltierra.

Now, after behavior many fans found upsetting, Amber is giving up custody of her 14-year-old son.

Amber Baltierra has given up custody of her son, according to an update from The Sun.

The 35-year-old Teen Mom star filed a petition to appoint limited guardian of a minor for her son, the outlet reports.

She “consented to the suspension of her parental rights” for the “best interests of the minor,” the legal papers revealed.

Amber’s son is 14 years old. His guardian is listed as living in Michigan, while Amber currently resides in Texas after finishing a stay in rehab.

The placement plan includes “payment of reasonable support” and reasonable parenting time and contact by the parents,” The Sun reports.

They were unable to report who currently has custody of Amber’s son.

Fans have found some of Amber’s recent behavior inappropriate or even “disturbing” in recent months, including her vow to ‘have a relationship’ with Tyler’s daughter Carly, whom he and Cate put up for adoption when they were teenagers.

“My niece is 13 today y’all. Happy birthday Carly. I legit can’t wait to have a relationship with you. Make today the best one yet,” Amber wrote on Instagram.

But when fans called her out, she doubled down.

“Yes I legit can’t wait to have a relationship with Carly…” she wrote on Facebook. “She knows who we are they did have a wedding HELLLOOO people lol.”

Fans were not happy to read this.

“Someone ask this clown why she doesn’t put the effort to get to know the nieces she can see,” one fan wrote on reddit.

Another penned, “Build a relationship with your own kids first.”

“Cate and Tyler wedding?? You mean the one that was seven years ago?? I would doubt if Carly even really remembers the wedding, let alone meeting amber there 😂 this whole family is psycho,” one fan wrote.

Meanwhile, Tyler has been open about his father’s struggles with addiction. It has been a major plotline for the family on Teen Mom OG. Tyler has seen him get clean and, sadly, relapse several times over the past few years.

Unfortunately, Butch Baltierra has not been sober in the past few years. He was arrested for a DUI in 2020. The Sun just released exclusive new details from the police report of the incident.

The documents from law enforcement state that an officer saw Butch swerving and accelerating heavily in a white Ford van at 5:30PM.

Once he was pulled over, the cop described him as appearing “confused.”

Butch allegedly told the officer that he was not familiar with the area and also reportedly said that he was using a friend’s vehicle for work.

But this was just the beginning of the messy situation that Butch got himself into.
